Question: Why do you want to become a teacher?
Ms Makanya: I would like to become a teacher because I like children and, of course, especially your class.
Hopefully I will have passed my final exams by September 2013.
Q: How old are you?
Answer: I’m 25 years old.
Q: What are your subjects?
A: My subjects are English, Political and Social Sciences, and History.
Q: What were your favorite subjects at school?
A: Well, I already liked English, but my favorite subject was Music.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I’m from Munich, my parents still live there.
Q: Can you tell us something about your parents?
A: My mom is from Germany, my father from South Africa. He grew up there before he moved to Israel. They met while my mom was doing an internship there, and finally they moved to Germany together.
Q: Do you have brothers and/or sisters?
A: I have a brother named Jabulani. He’s 23 years old and studies Art.
Q: What about your relatives in South Africa?
A: I’m going to visit them in the Christmas holidays, and I’m looking forward to doing this!
Q: One last question: What is the most beautiful place you’ve been to?
A: That’d be New Zealand. After I’d finished school, I bought a ticket and spent eight months there with Work and Travel. I can recommend it very warmly, kids!
Q: Thanks a lot!
A: You’re very welcome.
